Is it that picture hung in the corner?

Is it simply pretty colours?

Is it telling your views and ideas through constructs?

Or is it about escapism!

May one pose a question to you all....

'What is the point of being appreciated, If no one is naked?'

The human form, the natural soul unhindered. To take away materials, ideals and perceptions of a person and all you have is them, unabashed and stark in front of you. Always intrigued by the form for its uncanny and easily used ability to express itself in the minuet of details, I have become in many ways the body drawer.  The naked human form is what people think of foremost when one say Melinda Olive's art. It’s with no doubt at all that with the 'Bodies' work that I am most unhindered as an artist.

The body works became a colourful collection of prints around October of 2007, now its a permenant fixture in the yearly releases.

The series of emotionally anatomical nudes are hand drawn and digitally rendered into the livid images you see here.  Done to enhance the physical form

There is a run of #10, A3 sized prints of all images for sale. Contact Melinda Olive for more information. For the full range of 'Bodies' see Melinda Olive's deviant art gallery.

Flesh, is a mixed medium collection thats become some what of a rolling series which portrays, mostly, the human core at its most brutal.

The sketchy line style that has become a trademark to my art is back in abundance as these tortured little creatures turn all organic and are merely boats of pain and infliction.

What were once simple black and white images, I felt there was a need for the over-powering use of chalk and oils to add life to what appears to be a very dark set of images.
Giving them an eye-popping flash of brightness which only adds to the emotion emitting from the page.

These are definitely dark Mel pieces with a tiny little bite at what makes you human.

FX, Is really a manifestation of the imagination, and can provide us with those mental images that should enrich our view of the many worlds. It is there to create something that never existed or really isn’t appropriate to actually do realistically.

"As far back as I can remember I have loved my monsters, the fantastic, the supernatural and not to mention the gore. There just nothing better than seeing some fictional scary creature exist in your reality and that is what this medium really is.At the age of 7, seeing Robert Englund bring Freddy Kruger to life is one of my greatest memories. There was nothing more horrifyingly creepy to a child, but it still left me intrigued and wanting more.
This medium, and the artists that use it, do so to 'Simply make you believe that monsters do exist'." - Melinda Olive

Gore and violent horror is the mainstain for the fx produced by artist Melinda Olive. However there is deviations to sci-fi and fantasy. The works are normally for short films, photo shoots and peoples general desires to be something/someone else for a while.

Most of the works are not seen again, but once in a while artists will meet and collaborate. Here is some of the shots from the last photoshoot that had the makeup talents of Melinda Olive enlisted.

Models including : Elise Kellet, Andrew Douglas and Catherine Dyhin

Concepting has for a long time been an interesting reflection on a spoken idea. Taking what is essentially a raw thought and putting pencil to paper to make it a visual presentation.

I've come to like creating things you wouldnt normally see, and designing other worldly things for people. From the simple character design to something more along the lines of some tattoo flash.

Its literally having to create some thing that does not exist, for the sole purpose of giving life to, not yours but, someone else's thought. And its definitely not as easy as it seems.

To the right are some of the few concepts that I've had to produce this year.

Portraits, its a subject matter simple enough to grasp.  These are the people I adore or have inspired me enough to spend time with them through my art.
